Rules are made to be broken.
That’s what NYC musician, Elijah Dawson, is told constantly upon informing people of his Rule Book, but he disagrees. Rules help upkeep society, prevent chaos, and they help keep him from getting involved in meaningless relationships. Elijah learned the hard way that he’s terrible at being a boyfriend – people only end up getting hurt. To keep things simple, he lives his life by the Playboy Commandments
1. No Repeats.
2. No Staying the night.
3. NO Kissing.
4. No Pet Names. Seriously. Don't.
5. The drunker the sex, the better.
Things change when he steps on an iPhone en route to his dead-end job. After connecting with the phone’s owner, he finds that the man is Grayson Paul – the son of one of the most powerful men in all of New York City. Grayson is so much more than the guys Elijah finds himself taking home from bars – he’s gorgeous, passionate, and completely uninterested in a relationship. This must be fate, right?
Only Grayson isn’t all that interested…
Being hired at the billion-dollar record label owned by his very own father was supposed to be the highlight of Grayson’s life. Instead, he spends his first couple years out of college as a professional fetcher of chai lattes. Buying beverages and making copies wasn’t exactly what Grayson wanted to do in the family business. His best friends want him to stop obsessing over work and get laid, or in the very least date a couple guys, but love and meaningless sex are nothing but distractions. What Grayson really needs is an artist of his own.
It seems that his prayers are answered when he realizes the stupidly charming guy who found his iPhone is an incredible musician. Talented isn’t powerful enough a word to describe Elijah – he has a voice like no other and looks capable of making girls and boys swoon.
Elijah doesn’t need to be told that he has potential as a performer – he knows he’s good. But no amount of money is worth having his privacy invaded. Unfortunately for Grayson, Elijah would rather work paycheck-to-paycheck than see his business on a gossip blog.
Maybe agreeing to compromise will help both men realize that what they really needed was right there all along.

Elijah Dawson may have a set of rules that he lives by, but from the moment he meets Grayson Paul, those rules seem to get harder and harder to follow. Grayson, however, is more than happy to remind him of those rules every chance he gets. Fortunately for us, their electrifying chemistry is pretty hard to ignore, especially with fate lending a hand. These two will not only work their way into each-others hearts, but the readers as well!“I found the guy I need; he just doesn't need me.” -Grayson Paul
“Well, my dick was in somebody else’s mouth, and all I could focus on was how he wasn’t you, and how it didn’t feel right.” -Elijah Dawson
Something Real is an incredible story that will have you rooting for these two men to succeed, both independently, and together. One of my favorite parts of this story was watching them learn that sometimes, rules are fun to break! The amount of times I squealed in delight while reading this story is quite embarrassing. These two are way too charming to even try to describe. Ohhhh and I won't even mention the amount of times that I had to fan myself because of the more erotic scenes?! Holy sh*t, this author knows to write those!
You will not be disappointed with this one, that's for sure. I fell in love with some of the off characters while I found myself making hissing noises at others. This story has a bit of everything and I felt the ending was perfect, it did what any good story with a sequel does...it left me greedily wanting more. I'm very eager to see what happens in the next book!
Nellie Christine is definitely an author that we all should keep our eyes on! I know I will be. Her writing style is refreshing and her ability to captivate the reader early on is impressive. I'm also looking forward to reading her upcoming novel, Ride!!!Sending my congratulations to her for her debut novel! What a way to make an entrance into the world of writing!

Something Real Millennium Records Book 1 edition by Nellie Christine Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Amazing book! Can't wait until the next one!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Characters were well written and the plot was really interesting. I read the book it one day. Could not put it down!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were well written and likeable and I couldn't put it down. Very much looking forward to reading more by this talented author. I can definitely recommend!
This book is amazing! The characterizations are perfect and the little quirks and details the author includes about each of them makes them so 3 dimensional. This author writes in a voice that makes Something Real a lighthearted, fun read. this is a book I know I'll pick up over and over.
For a first time book, the story was great. Another reviewer mentioned the "head-hopping," personally, I only really noticed it once because it seemed kind of awkward and out of place. So, yeah, there's room for improvement on the grammatical and technical side but the plot and the characters seemed pretty well fleshed out and I often found myself eager to get back to the story when I wasn't reading it and eager to keep reading while doing so. Looking forward to more from this author and wishing her all the best.
I've read to many books to count and generally don't write anything unless I really enjoyed the book and want it to continue which in fact is the way I feel about this one. I am not going to get into the story as everything had already been said but I just hope that this series continues and we follow Grayson and Elijah on their journey. Highly recommend this book
To everyone planning on reading this, I must warn you, this book was indeed something real.
Everything since Elijah's development and how he made sure his way of viewing relationships changed once he set his eyes on Grayson, to how Grayson is such a strong determined character who not only is trying to prove himself to the world but also trying to always help everyone he is involved with, to Lily being the cutest baby in the world, to Eleanor wise words and Oscar's awful Christmas sweaters, I guess it's is pretty predictable to say that if you are a sucker for romances like me, you will fall in love with this story.
I happen to be reading this book in a moment of my life that my personal relationships are confusing, so it is pretty easy to say that I related with most of the characters in a level that I wasn't ready, and each and every one of them helped me realize stuff about my own personal life, so not only I loved this story but I am also thankful for this story.
I already miss them more than I can put it into words. Thank God this is a series of books because otherwise I would be already sobbing way more than I was as I read the Epilogue. I am glad to know that soon we will have more of Graijah or Elyson (I am not sure which way Nellie choose to call them yet) to love and cry and laugh with.
I have been a fan of Nellie's work since way before this book's journey started and I can't help but feel honored to have the chance to be typing this right now, and to express how much she truly deserves all the recognition, the support and the adoration she is getting with this masterpiece. I know everyone who gives this story a chance will have nothing but great things to say about this story, this characters and this author. And you better believe that this is just the beginning for Nellie, Elijah and Grayson and whatever other character she decides to present us with.
Ride is up next and I can only say that I can't wait until my username here makes sense for the ones that don't belong to the glee fandom (lol).
So in case you are in doubt about this book, just go for it, you won't regret this one.
